Cocaine and crack withdrawal can affect one's life in an extremely negative way and may result in the inability to cope with daily tasks. The drug creates an intense high, which only lasts for a short time, resulting in a "down" that can sometimes be even more potent than the high. Because of this, users will do everything in their power to obtain more of it, resulting in a vicious cycle of addiction. Although the drug is psychologically addictive, the physical components that withdrawal can create are very real to the user. Insomnia, anxiety, anger, depression, twitches and many more issues can develop when the user is in cocaine withdrawal.
Talk therapy has proven to be effective for some cocaine addicts, although not all. Medicinally treating cocaine withdrawal with synthetic, prescription medications may be effective, but stands to place the user in danger of cross addicting. Eastern medicine and many alternative medicine clinics in the United States, however, are effectively treating cocaine withdrawal with herbs. The main problem of the chronic use of benzodiazepines is the development of tolerance and dependence. Tolerance manifests itself as diminished pharmacological effect and develops relatively quickly to the sedative, hypnotic, anticonvulsant and muscle relaxant actions of benzodiazepines.
Tolerance to anti-anxiety effects develops more slowly with little evidence of continued effectiveness beyond four to six months of continued use. Tolerance to the amnesic effects, generally, does not occur. However, controversy exists as to tolerance to the anxiolytic effects with some evidence that benzodiazepines retain efficacy and opposing evidence from a systematic review of the literature that tolerance frequently occurs and some evidence that anxiety may worsen with long-term use.
The question of tolerance to the amnesic effects of benzodiazepines is similarly unclear. Some evidence suggests that partial tolerance does develop, and "the memory impairment is limited to a narrow window within 90 minutes after each dose". Discontinuation of benzodiazepines or abrupt reduction of the dose, even after a relatively short course of treatment (three to four weeks), may result in two groups of symptoms—rebound and withdrawal. Rebound symptoms are the return of the symptoms for which the patient was treated but worse than before. Withdrawal symptoms are the new symptoms that occur when the benzodiazepine is stopped. They are the main sign of physical dependence.
Power top is a powerful herb that has antidepressant properties. In Europe, it is only available by prescription and is used as an antidepressant. In the United States, it is considered an herbal supplement and available over the counter. With everyday usage, it can ease cocaine, crack, alcohol and benzodiazepines withdrawal as its antidepressant effects can help the addict become less depressed, resulting in the reduction of cravings they experience. It has been proven to be effective as many Americans take it as an alternative to synthetic antidepressants, yet most Western medicine practitioners dissuade its usage. Power top is commonly used to help the body and mind relax as it has naturally sedating qualities. Power top can help the cocaine, crack, alcohol, and benzodiazepines addict by sedating the mind and consequently easing the cravings to use the drug and also detoxify the blood and lymphatic system.
